Typical Weather:

The weather is usually dry and hot this time of year in Eastern Washington.  The organizers have scheduled the Mini MX Sumer Grand National in the evening since cooler temperatures make it more pleasant for the riders and fans.  The track has extensive out-door lighting which provides great visibility and depth perception as dusk turns to dark.  Most of all it is an interesting experience that is fun for racers and fans alike.  Last year’s event was covered in the pages of MiniMoto Magazine and here is what they had to say:

“There is something unique about an outdoor evening race.  Racing into the sunset makes for some surreal vistas and an incredible vibe.  As the dusk turns to dark night, racers are treated to a night-time race illuminated by track-side lighting under a harvest moon.  If you ever get a chance to do a night minibike race, jump on it.  It is a unique experience that you will not soon forget.”

            -MiniMoto Magazine, 2007

Many of the top names in the sport will be there to race for their share of this record $20,000 minibike purse.  The major minibike industry teams will be there with factory riders and will be showing off the latest technology as they battle for bragging rights on the track.  Several of the top riders have been to this event in years past and know how much fun it is.  One of the top names is Derek Costella and he is excited to be making his third appearance at this race.

“I loved this race the last two years, and can’t wait to race under the lights again this year.  It is a great track and the people who run it are awesome.”

-Derek Costella, 4-time MiniMoto SX Champion
