Seattle, WA. (April 10th 2007) - The BBR/Monster race team has
put the finishing touches on the 2007 Derek Costella race bikes. For his
part, Derek has been training harder than ever and racing KX450F’s in
the WORCS series.
Derek’s 2006 performances made him the man to beat anywhere he showed up
to race. He is always a factor on his BBR/Monster Perimeter Frame race
bikes. Derek’s intensity and wide-open style has made him one of the
fastest mini racers in the world. In the 2006 MiniMoto SX, MM12E main
event he started in the second row and spent the first several laps
ripping through the field to move into second position with only two
laps to go. He then brought the entire crowd to boiling point when he
made a pass to nail the first place finish.
In addition to the MM12E win, Derek also finished 2nd place in the
MiniMoto M10E main event with a fast and wild effort that finished with
Costella catching David Pingree in a dive for the finish line. Both
riders went down after they crossed the finish… but when the dust
settled, Costella was awarded second place.
Other key 2006 wins included domination at the second annual MiniMX
Championship Series, round 1, at Competative Edge MX Park in Hesperia,
CA where he won every moto he raced that day. He went (1-1) in the Pro
Midsize class and (1-1) in the Open Pro class. Derek also posted an
impresive 3 out of 4 moto win tally with a 10” Pro Class win at the 2006
Texas Mini National held this past September.
“Win or lose, Derek is always the funnest guy to watch on a mini-bike
anyware, anytime. Nobody puts on a better show than Derek Costella,
especially in front of his home-town crowd.” – Duane Brown, President,
BBR Motorsports & BBR/Monster Race Team Director.
BBR is proud to have Derek as our lead BBR/Monster Factory Pro. His
aggressive style and love for the sport fits perfectly with BBR’s
strategy for winning.
